NIGERIA IN DECEMBER
My first written article of 2020 and it starts with my trip back to Lagos, Nigeria. This trip was extremely special to me because I was able to go down memory lane and visit the places I grew up in and seeing friends and family members that I haven’t seen in a long time. It took me 13 years to visit the country that raised me, but it felt like I never left home. The love was there and all around us. I feel absolutely blessed and fortunate to call Lagos, Nigeria my home.
Here are a few tips you should know about visiting Lagos, Nigeria in December
Bring bug spray (so so soooooooo important)
Stay in Victoria Island. everything happens on the island or stay in Lekki Phase 1
Pack sunscreen
Eko Hotel is a nice hotel but it might be hard to maneuver with calling Ubers because there is always traffic around there.
Good hotels - Oriental, Eko, Four Points, Raddison Blue
Bring malaria pills and Imodium. (You will poop a lot and will need Imodium to help with the stomach runs)
$300 - $400 is good for 2 weeks in Nigeria (everything is pretty cheap so it might last you even longer if you spend wisely)
Download the bolt app for “uber” services because you can pay cash at the end of the ride.
Be aware of where you are going and the route your driver is taking because they take longer routes when they know you are American.
Put on an authentic Nigerian accent in the car
Buy all concert tickets in advance and pay for VIP!! General admission is basically behind the stage and you can’t see anything so it’s a waste of money.
Bring a fanny pack and keep your purse in-front of you and never on the side. STAY WOKE! PEOPLE STEAL!
Be ready to party after party
Try to visit museums, art center, beaches and local markets during your trip.
