TIPS FOR TRAVELING SOLO

IMG_1472.png

My most recent solo trip was to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I had such a fabulous and I enjoyed spending time with myself. It was absolutely refreshing to dance, sing, eat, laugh, read and meditate by myself. I get a lot of questions about tips on traveling alone, although I’ve already shared some tips on my Costa Rica post. - But since this is my 3rd solo trip, I’ve learned more things along the way and I’ve decided to update the tips.

Tips for traveling alone

  • Download a money “converter” app so that you don’t get scammed

  • Use the “Translate” app. All iPhones automatically have this

  • DO NOT post on social media if you have a public page until you get back. If your page is private then you can post.

  • Share your trip and location with family

  • Be aware of your surroundings

  • Do not disclose your location while you are on vacation. Instead, you can say that you are traveling with someone. Just be cautious about who you let know that you are by yourself.

  • DO NOT go out late at night without someone or a large group

  • Don’t give out information to where you are staying to strangers/locals

  • Carry a pepper spray if you can (for emergency)

  • Do group activities (most activities can make you feel lonely so make sure you do the right one. Whatever activity you do, make the best out of it and remember this is a new experience for you)

  • Don’t stay in an AIRBNB! Stay in hostels, resorts, or hotels. Anything with tourists around

  • Meditate, pray, read a book, eat well, take walks, and most importantly HAVE FUN
